I got the drive shaft back from Eddie and was able to reinstall it for good this time. I think the red looks great against the black boom, but that’s just me.
The reassembly was simple because all of the serious alignment work had been completed. All I needed to do was to use the same hardware and shims as how it came off, and secure it in place with the barrel pins before I installed the bolts.
In addition, I reinstalled the nylon key spacer on the tail rotor transmission, and installed a piece of hose with clamps to seal everything in place.
Each of the nuts will be cotter pined in place, and the love-joy fitting is bolted and wired to finish the connection. Everything looks and feels perfectly aligned.
