Brief Description: Install Transmission fitting and Hose
The barbed fitting that comes out of the transmission needed to be connected to a length of hose with a removable plug on the end. This is used for both draining and adding oil to the transmission.
The question everyone has is how do you secure it during flight when it has to be left long so you can raise it above the transmission to add oil, and lower than the tranny to drain it. Typically, I’ve seen it secured to the firewall with clamps or zip ties, but I thought I would try something a little different.
I’ve decided to run it along the top of the frame and secure it with industrial strength Velcro straps. It feels very secure, and it’s very functional. Another thing I did was to wrap the plug with heat-shrink because the serrations were so sharp that they scratched every bit of paint it touched. And finally, the last thing I did for our friends at the FAA was to label the plug.
