Brief Description:  Headed to the Paint Shop!

Okay, now the fun report. Let’s put it this way, Tom kept looking at me and saying, “Would you quit smiling like an idiot!”. I think that’s a good sign, right?!

We finished up the final riveting in record time, and our technique and communication was perfect. This was the easiest riveting of the entire project to date. It’s sad that you sometimes only get good at a job at the very end, but at least I still have more to complete in the future. I did some last minute cleaning and labeling before calling for the flatbed to come pick her up.

Tom learned from his own cabin transport that the door frames need support when traveling at 40mph down the road. As such, he used some scrap wood I had and made two braces for the 10 minute trip. We then loaded up the remaining interior pieces into my Jeep and got ready for the truck so we could follow it to the paint shop and help unload.

The tow truck driver, Nick, was very excited about picking up a helicopter and gave me a number of his cards to make sure that he gets the call for all of the next moves. He said he has had some strange calls in the past, but this is the first helicopter! Once we got to the painter, several of his customers were very interested in the oddity of a helicopter at an auto body shop. Eddie and Marco at the shop were great as usual, and Eddie said that he would call me once he has the cabin graphics taped and ready to paint. I am really looking forward to that call!!
