Brief Description:  Instrument Pod

Well, nothing is easy when you’re building from scratch, and this was no exception. I picked up the pod last night and was able to start assembling the instruments on my panel. There were small adjustments to everything from the actual instrument holes to the pod brackets themselves. I did the final mounting of the GPS tray, and got everything in place and fitted as best as possible.

I did have an issue with the VSI and Altimeter that I didn’t expect. Basically, I didn’t need the cutouts for the VSI and Altimeter because the aftermarket instrument light rings are notched out for them already. Also, my gauges are spaced too close for the lights to even fit, so you had to grind them down, to make a few of them fit. In the end, I’m going to use two of the ring lights and I’m going to install two post lights on the top of the panel. I think it will be okay, and at this point I think t’s going to be the best solution. The only other option is to rebuild the entire panel. Not going to happen. Live and learn,,,

I still need to pick up the panel light label once it’s ready so I can install the warning lights. Hopefully, that is this week. I’m also short 14 screws to attach the instruments, but I’m sure I can get those sent from Safari.

I’m supposed to get my bird back from paint TODAY, so hopefully my next post will be a happy one!!
