Brief Description: Install vertical stabilizer and comm antenna
My painter Eddie is still working on the horizontal stabilizer, but he completed the antenna mount, fuel tank cross bars, and the vertical stabilizer. I picked up what he had ready and was able to install the vertical stabilizers as well and the tail number lettering.
I have seen many different applications of the tail number, from running them parallel to the top of the stabilizer to running them down along the bottom edge of the panel. I decided to do what a few others have done and make them parallel to the top of the tail boom and tail rotor drive shaft. I think it’s a good look, especially when it’s on the ground.
I also installed the antenna mount and dry fitted the antenna so I could make the cable and ground connections before removing it again. I want to have it out of the way when we are installing the transmission. Same idea as the fuel tanks.
