Brief Description: Carburetor Intake Fitting
Okay, this one threw me for a loop for a while. I was trying to figure out how I was supposed to connect the carburetor to the air intake box I made earlier. After contacting Safari, I was told that this is something I needed to make. I have plenty of metal, but I was out of the 3β collars required, which Safari promptly sent out to me. Thanks Delane!
I traced the carburetor out on a piece of cardboard, then cut a pattern to fit that I was happy with. After transferring it to a sheet of 1/8β thick aluminum, I used a jigsaw to cut it out, and a band saw to trim to size. Once I was happy with the outside size, I used a hole saw on the drill press to cut out the center hole. I finished it with a Scotchbrite pad on a grinding wheel, then polished the entire thing. Once that was complete, I riveted the 3β collar onto the fitting. I think it came out great, and itβs as solid as can be.
Once the fabrication was complete, I secured the fitting to the carburetor and safety wired the bolts.
