Brief Description:  Governor – Pitch Trim – Transponder Antenna

The pitch trim motor was next. I secured the motor to the pilot’s cyclic tube using hose clamps which was like having help from an octopus! So nice to be able to move it around in all aspects and not lose my place with the measurements. What I quickly realized however was that I needed to better understand where the tension springs are terminating on the cyclic and aft bell crank. The motor needs to be right in the middle of those two points, and I didn’t know exactly where those points were and I needed Safari to confirm. This project is on pause…

The governor motor was next. Again, the instructions were good, but I realized that I was missing the relay box that coordinates the engine and sends signals to the governor motor to hold the engine RPM’s at 492. I checked my pull sheet that was included in my kit and it showed it was backordered. Not a big deal right now, but will need to be able to install it shortly nice it’s located on the frame against the firewall.

I assembled the small control rod that connects into the throttle linkage system and spun up and cooled the heads until they became loose. Again, I used hose clamps to hold everything in place and then drilled the frame for permanent installation.

Again, I needed to feel a sense of completion and accomplishment so I decided to install the transponder antenna. I located it on the belly in the center of the ship about six inches off the firewall where I think it will be out of the way of everything else going in around it.
