Brief Description: R-Elev: Drill counterweight and match drill skin t
I cannot believe how fast the time has passed! :O
For those that were wondering, YES I still live and YES I'm still building. It's just been an unbelievably hectic few months... 'bout time for some sanity to return though! ;)
As previously hinted at, I finally acquired a new Ryobi Drill Press. What a pleasure. This thing (together with the obligatory lubricant/cutting fluid/whatever-you-wanna-call-it) made drilling the lead a complete non-entity! I was quite seriously done in about 30 secs. To be honest though, in restrospect I think it was probably more thanks to the lubricant than anything else but shhhhh... don't tell anyone! ;)
After having drilled through the lead and the counterbalance sub-assembly, I finished up the construction of the understructure by cleco'ing and matchdrilling the E709 root rib to the spar and thereafter the right elevator control horn (WD-605-1-R) to the spar and root rib respectively.
Thereafter, cleco'ing and match drilling the skin to the understructure was a mere formality. Deburring and dimpling to follow shortly I'm sure! ;)
Phew... 'tis good to be back! :D
My new addition to the toolset. It's already made many a job (most non-RV) much easier.
