Painted the seat support brackets since they will show when the interior is installed. Insulated the firewall on the interior using Fiberfrax ceramic insulation. We first installed 2 layers of 1/8" material using 3M firestop 2000. This was followed with a black foam insulation that is suspended from the sides and the top. We conducted a test on a sample installation and found that this method could withstand over 10 minutes of a propane torch at roughly 1800 degrees before starting to desintegrate. Fiberfrax is used on the space shuttle under the tiles.
