Brief Description:  Drilling Drilling, Drilling.

Today, I thought I'd build part of the plane :-)

I final drilled th e1/8th rivet holes in the F-804N-1 bulkhead end caps to full size I then removed the caps from the fuse.

I final drilled the nutplate attachment rivet holes in the two aft side skins that are used to attache the F-824B cover plates. I clecoed the rudder stops to the aft skins, one each side, and drilled the 1/8th rivet holes to full size. I also marked the edge line that marks the edge of the aft skins on the rudder stops, but have not trimmed this excess metal off yet.

Then the manual says to remove the aft bottom skin. HUH? I'd forgotten to clecoe the skin in place yet, so I clecoed the aft bottom skin in place, a difficult fit, and looked around why. the flanges on the F 811 and 812 bulkheads, were flat in their orientation with the aft bottom skin, whereas the skin is obviously curved. The parts did not meet together well so I applied a bit of a curve with pliers, to the flanges so they fitted against the aft skin properly.....sorted. I then reclecoed th eaft skin back on and drilled the comon rivet holes between it and the side skins/lower longerons/F810, 811, 812 bulkheads. I removed the aft lower skin. I clecoed the aft deck into position clecoing every other rivet holes to give the area extra rigidity required to work with the Tail spring mount.

I clecoed the tail spring mount onto the F-812 bulkhead and re clecoed the bulkhead mount assembly back into the tail.

That's it for today.
