Brief Description:  Tailcone to fwd fuselage

Today, I managed to get some things done. The fwd fuselage used to sit on the fuse parts box, and furniture dollies so I could roll it around. But the box was the worse for waer after delivery and was showing signs it couldn't take the weight. So I bought two 1,200 lb trestles and the clamps to clamp the skins for drilling, and placed the fuselage on the trestles.

I clecoed the bulkhead caps and cockpit rails into place. fitst I noticed the fwd fold line on the two top longerones were just under the rear edge of the cut outs in the cockpit rails, too far aft, and the longereons were already touching the firewall. So I removed the top longerones and trimmed them by 3/16th of an inch and they fitted fine after that. I will debur and edge the cockpit rails and bulkhead caps after drilling is complete.

I noticed the F-807 bulkhead is very tight up against the cockpit rails, so they may need trimming very slightly later on.

I clecoed the upper longeron gussets (F-887) in place as well as the F-845/846 gussets.

I clamped the upper longerons to the upper enging mount brackets using a couple of 'C' clamps each side, as well as a 'C' clamp for each of the upper longeron gussets.

I used simple spring clamps along with small wood blocks to clamp the rest of the fuselage skins to the upper longerons along its length. I used a hefty strap to clamp the skins at the LG boxes and a smaller one by the centre bulkheads. Ready for drilling.
