James Roberts Zodiac XL Build
After a break from flying of over 8 years I decided it was time to get back in the saddle again and requalify for my PPL. Unfortunately, to maintain the PPL currency hours I did not want to hire and fly at considerable expense everytime I wanted to fly. I looked the price range for second hand aircraft such as the Piper Cherokee and saw that they were around R500 000 for a 30 to 40 year old aircraft. On this age of aircraft the cost of maintenance is likely to be very high and I then decided that this wasn't the route for me. After a considerable amount of internet research I decided that the Zodiac 601 XL was about right for my level of flying experience and the predicted cost of a completed kit.
