Welcome to my RV-8 web page. This is my second RV that I built between 1996 and 2004. It took considerably longer than my -6 due to two relocations and about a year of home improvement projects. After flying the -6 for about 500 hours over a 5 year period I decided that most of my flying was cross country travel. The -6 fulfilled that mission very well but I built it as a stock VFR airplane. Consequently, when I started the -8 I incorporated those items/changes I felt met my cross country mission profile. The airplane is fully IFR capable, has a two axis S-Tec 30 autopilot, a constant speed prop and an onboard oxygen system. As a result the airplane is at the high end of the weight scale for an -8. However, the airplane is very capable of meeting its intended mission yet it still flys like any RV. It is a set of compromises that have met and even exceed my expectations.
