move scat tube mount, begin seal installation |

I decided that the location of the mount for the scat tube that will cool the fuel pump was unacceptable. I drilled out the pop rivets and removed the mounting flange. I fabricated and installed a patch over the hole left by the removal of the flange. I used a uni bit to make a 3/4 hole and installed the flange over it, above the patch where the flange had been removed earlier. I bolted the left rear baffle to the engine, noting that the star washer for one of the screws is missing. I placed it on the snag list. I can't find the instructions that came with the baffle kit so I am having to determine how to install the rubber seals that meet the cowl. I looked online and found some pictures. I cut the rubber material in 3 in wide pieces. I drilled on and clecoed the rubber seal on the starboard section of the rear baffle. I also cleaned up the shop and drained the water from the compressor tank. I opened the can of water absorbing beads and replaced the existing beads that I have been using for over a couple of years with the new blue beads. |
