Skirt |

|
Continued working on the canopy skirt. Sanded the skirt lower edge with 60 grit sandpaper to bring the edge very near the scribed line on the bottom. I decided not to cut off the portion of the canopy that protrudes lower than the rail. It is not causing any problem, other than perhaps cosmetic, and I don't want to risk cracking the canopy by cutting it. Stefan King came by to help with the avionics and also with the fiberglass. He noted that there was a crack in the port skit at the bend line. That probably occured when I was trying to bend it using heat. I put a fiberglass patch over that area on the inside of the skirt at the suggestion of Stefan who has fiberglass experience. Next I will prime the inside of the skirt, sand it and paint it gray. Then I will cleco the skirt in place and join the two sides at the rear. I will then remove the skirt and finalize the aft section before gluing and riveting the skirt in place. |
