Today I had a great idea...yeah right! The flap bearings that came from Avipro did not have grease fittings in them. The Bob suggests that they are installed so the bearings get a healthy dose of grease at annual. So rather than stip the paint off and weld nuts on, I thought it would be a great idea to just use JB Weld (an epoxy) to hold the nuts in place. It's not a stress point or even that critical. The problem is in the setup time. It takes 4 to 6 hours to set up...which means that I have to get it to stay in the right place while it sets up. I gooped on the JB Weld and wrapped it in blue painter's tape. It is working so far, the epoxy is staying in place. Hopefully I won't have to grind it off tomorrow because it didn't work! We'll have to see. The frustrating part is that I could have probably welded nuts on in half the time!!!! |
