Aileron Gap Fairing & Bottom Skins - 2 hours Sorry, no pictures tonight. I did get the aileron gap fairing installed though, and started deburring the bottom skins. I think I'm going to pull string through all my conduit / snap bushings, and just skin the wing. I have decided to put all my pitot hardware in the left wing. 11/23/2008 Bottom wing skins, ailerons - 8 hours I started by getting the bottom skins ready for assembly - debur / dimple / prime - for both bottom skins. I went ahead and pulled string through all my gromets so that I can pull wires through later after the skins are installed. After a few folks brought to my attention how much table space I was losing with my drawer organizers sitting on the table, I decided to mount them on the wall - man what a difference! Dad made it out for a little bit and we started riveting the inboard bottom skin. We only set about 15 rivets along the rear spar at the root end - these are difficult to set because you're reaching in between the wing walk ribs (very close together) under the skin. Luckily, I bucked nearly all the rivets on Vern's RV-10 bottom wing skins, so I'm familiar with the process. |
