Fuel Tank - 2 hours Tonight I fabricated my T-711 access plates - decided to roll my own from 0.032" instead of buying them from Van's. I then dimpled some more. I got all the ribs dimpled and half of the skin done. I borrowed tank dies from Vern. The skins are thick and you really have to whack the C-frame. I also pondered for a while about how to do my vent line and my fuel return line. Van's instructions and prints are VERY vague on this, but I think I have it figured out. 9/08/2008 Fuel Tank - 3 hours Tonight I finished dimpling the fuel tank skin. After that I drilled the fuel tank vent line hole in the inboard most rib. I also drilled a fuel return line hole through the 3 most inboard ribs. I just made a paper template to put the hole in the same place on all three ribs. I made my anti-hangup bracket for the flop tube from some 0.025" x 0.625" aluminum, and riveted it in place. Finally, I fabricated my trap door for the 2nd most inboard rib and riveted it in place. |
