I started by disassembling the right HS and drilling the last six holes at the HS-710/714 to HS-702 attach point. I then finished disassembling everything then spent a few hours deburring all the ribs and spars in the HS. I used the pneumatic squeezer to dimple all the holes in the spars and ribs. I had to use the hand squeezer on a few of the holes near the leading edge on the ribs since I only have the longeron yoke and the 4" no-hole yoke for my pneumatic squeezer. I used the pneumatic squeezer to dimple all the holes along the edges and the C-frame to dimple the rest. After all the deburring and dimpling, I diluted some Alumiprep 33 3:1 with water and used it with a maroon scotchbrite pad on the surfaces I intend to prime. For parts that aren't Alclad, I did use Alodine. My method of priming (for now) is to use Alumiprep 33 with a scotchbrite, dry, then prime ONLY the areas that will see metal to metal contact. For parts that are not Alclad (angle), I will use Alumiprep 33 with a scotchbrite, rinse, dry, Aldoine, rinse, dry, then prime the entire part. One medium coat of primer is what I did today. I only got the left side of the HS done. |
