Sealing the Tanks |
|
|
Today I finished applying sealant and clecoing all the ribs to the right tank. I continued as yesterday but made a bigger hole in my syringe so that it was easier to squeeze sealant out. After I finished the ribs I used a -6 rivet to fill the tooling hole in the outboard end rib. I applied a generous amount of sealant. I also riveted the anti rotation bracket to the cover plate. It was tough to get to the rivets with the fitting in place but I managed it. While the sealant dries I moved back to the left tank. I drilled the final Z bracket and riveted the nut plates to the main spar. They are really tough to get to! I removed the clecoed tank from the wing and drilled all the skin holes to final size. I also countersunk the holes that attach the skin to the tank baffle. |
