Brief Description:    28th flight
28th flight

It was a beautiful day today, however, just a little bumpy. Still a good day to take up my first passenger. My plan was to take my oldest daughter on her second flight in a small plane (she was my first passenger as a pilot also) out to lunch at a restaurant near a local airport. We took off and the plane flew fine, but half way to our destination, my daughter said she wasn’t feeling well (it was a little bumpy – but not scary) so we turned back around and headed for my home airport. My daughter is sensitive to movements, even in a car sometimes, so I wasn’t that surprised. When we landed at my home airport, I took her out to lunch nearby instead. She took the pictures and of course on had to be of the warning placard!

After lunch, I took a prospective home builder up for a ride. After a while, the radio started to behave strangely so I unplugged the passenger’s headset and everything returned to normal. After we landed, I tried another headset in the passenger’s place and the radio started behaving strangely again, so there is some issue with the wiring for my passenger’s headset. I should be able to look at it this weekend sometime.

After that I went up with Neil Wischer, Sonex builder #1391, for his first ride in a Sonex. Once we got to 2500 feet, I let Neil him take the controls and fly circles around the airport. We climbed to about 3000 feet and stayed up there for quite awhile as the airport got real busy and Neil must have made 5-6 circles around the field. It seemed like one of my plugs was starting to foul, so I’ll have to take a look at that as well as the wiring for the passenger headset connection.
