20th flight

Today, I finished up reinstalling the wings, riveting on the one wing tip I smashed, and the stab tip. I also riveted on the angles that go on the side of the fuselage that close up the gap for when the flap are all the way up. The only way to install the flap angles is to make where they go with the wings on, then remove the wings and rivet them on - a real pain in the butt. It took me about 8 hours to rivet everything and install the wings. The only way I’ll ever remove the wings again will be if I ever have to take them off to get the plane back to the airport, after an emergency landing somewhere.

Once all this was done I did have an hour for a flight. The one thing I really wanted to check was if she flew straight with my feet off the rudders and she was much better. I don’t think she wanted to turn to the right anymore, but I still felt like the left wing was just a little heavy. Maybe it is because of my big button the left side? More research to come.

My EGTs are still too high, although my CHTs are doing fine. There is still more tuning I need to do to the carburetor, because she kept wanting to die at idle. Perhaps I have her too lean (which would help explain the high EGTs???)
