Brief Description:    Taxi tests
Today I ‘putzed’ some more. Not really getting much completed other than re-installing the interior.

After a few hours of ‘putzing’ around, I taxied the plane from one end of the airport to the other just getting used to her. I did notice that the tail wheel is loud, and at one point it fell into hole (tie down?) with a large bang. I can see why some builders install bigger tail wheels. While not sure yet, I do believe that I’ll be able to taxi to/from the runway with the canopy open. It moved around a little, but not much, so that would be good on those hot summer days.

Another thing I noticed that I didn’t like was that I don’t have the carburetor adjusted good enough, because I could only idle down to about 1000 RPM, which is enough to keep the airplane moving and gaining speed. I want to be able to get the idle RPM to about 800, so that I don’t need to be applying the brakes all the time. I think I need to adjust the carburetor a little more rich.

I also need to check the timing with a timing light just to make sure it’s right. When I check the mags, I only lose about 30-40 RPM so it must be close, but I want to make sure.
