Completed the engine |

Finished installing the AeroVee engine today (78 total hours) with the exception of the oil temperature sender. I haven’t been able to find an M14 x 1.5 tap – I’ll have to order one. When I began to install more and more items to the firewall, it became pretty obvious that I would need to remove the Fuel tank so I can get to all the hardware. So I spent a few hours under the glare shield (again) removing the tank – that’s always fun. In the end though I’m glad I did; with the tank out I didn’t have to worry about drilling into the tank, and I could put things where I want to on the firewall. Also, with the tank out I applied a layer of fiberglass to the areas where most builders find leaks, just to make it a little stronger and hopefully avoid the fuel leaks. All-in-all, assembling the engine wasn’t too bad – of course I haven’t tried to start it yet so I don’t really know if I completely screwed something up. |
