Panel and throttle quadrant |
|
|
With the panel and glare shield clecoed in place, I can now figure out how I want to install the throttle quadrant and Trim wheel. These come with an aluminum angle from Sonex for installation, but I intend to make a few modifications. First of all, I plan to install the throttle quadrant under the panel, centered, with the trim wheel to the right and the mixture control to the left. Also, since I'll be installing the Stratomaster Engima EIS in the center of the panel, I can't have the handles for the throttle right in the middle of the display, so I have to get a 3x3" aluminum angle so I can mount the throttle lower under the panel. I've tried the fit and I should easily reach the brake and flap handles, also mounted in the center. Just moving the throttle down gives some room, but not enough to keep the handles out of the way for the display. So I'll also have to redesign the throttle handle portion so it has a 90 degree bend, instead of the slight bend it has now. I can use the existing handle as a template to make a new handle out of 3/16" aluminum - just with a 90 degree bend. This will mean the throttle is controlled kind of down to up for minimum to maximum power instead of back to front. It also means that the handle will be shiny, instead of pretty red. |
