Forward Fuselage |
|
|
Spent 7 hours today plus 7 hours on Friday - spent all day Saturday at Airventure. Have all the parts assembled and clecoed to the aft fuse (see picture 1). Now I just have to up drill to 40 and 3/16 where needed, disassemble, deburr and then reassemble and rivet in a very particular order. Was very impressed, the instructions have you not rivet certain things together so they can be moved out of the way for drilling subsequent assemblies. Sonex really put some thought into the sequence of assembly. Spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how the forward firewall was to fit with the big, 3x3 angle of the upper support in the way. Seems it's not; I was supposed to cut one side of the 3" angle down to 3/4" but somehow I missed that. Once I cut it properly, the forward firewall fit great. |
