Finish seat belts, install VHF antenna |
|
|
Tonight I finished the seat belt installation and tried them on for size, without the seat cushion - seemed to work ok. This was an exciting day as I received the X-COM radio, Lightspeed headset and cheapo antenna I ordered. It is incredible how light that VHF radio is! I have already installed the antenna using the method described in the prints. This method is to mount the antenna to the side of the glare shield, inside the windshield and form the antenna to match the curvature of the windshield. Nylon blocks and double sided tape are used to attach the antenna to the windshield. One benefit is that the antenna cable will only be about a foot long because the antenna is mounted so close to the transceiver. With my order from Aircraft Spruce, I also received some rubber material that I plan to use between the wings and the fuselage. This material will also be used between the wheel pants and the fairing, and between the fairing and the fuselage. In addition, I also plan to attach (glue?) a flat piece of rubber to top of the longeron so the canopy rests on this rubber which should make for a better seal. Plus the rubber won't get scratched up and will stay looking good. I may also try to install some type of rubber on the lip from the windshield that the canopy rests on. |
