New panel work |
|
|
I spent the majority of the day today working on the new panel. Cutting through 1/8” is a lot tougher than cutting the original panel was, and a lot more time consuming, but in the end it turned out great. I did make a couple of the whole too big, but I just filled it in with bondo and it was a good as new. Bondo is really some incredible stuff. Image one shows the new panel and image two shows what remains of the original panel. I decided to leave the two vertical members to help keep everything in shape. When everything is installed, I'll have to remove 10 screws and the four screws that hold the Enigma and I'll be able to pull the panel out. I plan to put an extra foot or so of wiring between the new and old panel which should give me enough room to get in there. Tomorrow I’m going to take the panel and get the lettering screened on. Once that is done I’ll put a couple of coats of clear over everything to protect it. When done, the panel should look almost professional. I also finished up a lot of little odds and ends. Slowly getting closer to finished. |
