Finish wing install and work on canopy |

The past few days I have been waiting for more rivets to arrive so I could rivet all the rest of the stuff since now the wing rigging is complete. It's nice to have the tunnel all riveted in place and have all the clecos removed. Except for the clecos at the aft part of the cabin (because I still haven't installed the Aft Fuse bottom) all clecos on the forward fuse are gone. Rigging the wings was pretty tough (especially having to do most everything by myself) and I bent the fuselage skin around the holes where the wings enter the fuselage because the angle braces were all removed and the wing tended to twist a little. Not too bad though, besides, the wing covers the ugly part. I also have been working on the flip back canopy some more. Took it all apart and almost started from scratch, but after 6 hours today I am finally happy with it. I screwed up a couple of weeks ago; I thought I could mount the brackets for the canopy arms way down low near the bottom of the fuse, but they were totally in the way for the rear wing mounting bracket. Had to completely remove them and re-do the arms AGAIN. IN the end, I think I'm going to like the canopy. Once I unlatch both sides, I can fully open the canopy from behind the wing with one hand. Closing it is just as easy - just a little lining things up. And the exciting part; I ordered the AeroVee, Air filter assembly, Oil Pressure sender, Oil temperature sender, and the cooling baffle. I also ordered the black composite propeller, which has an 8 to 16 week lead time. I also plan to order the Stratomaster Engima sometime next week, so I’ll have lots of stuff to work on real soon. Lastly, I finally made an appointment to take my sport pilot check ride. Hopefully on the 26th I’ll get my certificate! |
