Very gusty wind today, but still seemed to make progress on the landings. The Airport was very busy today and while coming in to land on base, an RV8 didn't see me or hear me on the radio and began to take off while I was attempting to land on the same runway. Good thing we saw him the whole time so I was able to abort at about 200 feet above the runway and climb to re-enter the pattern. I don't think he knew I was there the whole time, he just took off and made a climbing turn to the left, away from us.
