Finished dimpling and deburring the wing skin - then riveted the skin in place. Now both wings are complete, with the exception of the landing light covers and the fiberglass wing tip. For the wing tip, I plan to install strobe/nav/position lights so I purchased wingtip strobe light pods from a company called Lotek. They make wing tip pod specifically for the Sonex, and while their website doesn’t have much information, it does include a picture of their pods with the exact type of lights I'm installing (from Skybright). At least it appears as though the pods were designed specifically for my plane and the lights I already purchased - all for $20 (plus shipping). While I'm glad to be done with the dimple tool (it's a slow process) I do kind of wish I would have used the sunken rivets everywhere - it just seems nicer. |
