Prepared R1005 Rudder Horn |
|
|
Until such time as the replacement R-1004 parts turn up, I cant complete 7.4.1, so I continued on with 7.4.2 and those parts of 7.4.3&4 that I could complete. The Rudder horn is is .134 inch thick, so I was expecting it to be quite a difficult preparation. In reality, it went reasonably quickly. I used the 6 inch scotchbrite for all external and accessable edges. I then used files followed by emery cloth for the internal edges and those external edges that were inaccessible to the scotchbrite. It is an interesting part. I would like to see it being constructed. The manufacturing process which I assume is combination of shearing, punching and bending would be extremely interesting. |
