Nose ribs |
|
|
After pre-fitting the nose ribs to be absolutely sure of their placements, epoxy was added to both mating surfaces and pressure applied with elastic bands strung over the 5/16" x 5/8" leading edge timber. To fit the end ribs I needed to epoxy the wing fittings into place. Bolts were used to align the fittings and g-clamps used to apply a light pressure so as to not squeeze out all the resin but enough to form a good bond. Chose to not use the black spring clamps as the pressure they apply is continuous whereas the g-clamps apply only as much as you screw them down and then no more. Removed the positioning bolts as they are cheap 1/4" and just used for aligning purposes and I don't want them epoxied in and unable to extract. End ribs cut to fit over the wing fittings and a large g-clamp hanging off elastic bands applies enough vertical pressure to hold them in place and not have the ribs move. |
