Wing rib flange tab removal process (15-02) |
|
|
I tried tin snips on the first rib, but ended up with a little bend in the flange are, which I had to try and ben out. It wasn't bad, but figured there had to be a better way. I could always just file it down, but that would take a while. So I tried this three step process and it's worked out well. 1. First I grind down the bent corner of the flange until it's thin enough to bend 2. Then I bend it back and forth until it falls off 3. I take the grinder to smooth it out and shape it into a continuous surface. The trick is to take it slow and be very careful not to let the grinder get away from you...just light cuts. |
