Rear bow + horizontals |
|
|
Kept working the shape of the bow to match the turtle deck. Then I put the horizontals in place on the fuselage longerons, and joined the rear bow with the horizontal members, with the black painted corner brackets. Most of the bending I did with my knees. But for the tight bends needed near the bottom of the bow, I used a simple bending jig of two 2x4 blocks screwed to the work bench (photo 2). With the bow on the brackets the bow was too high above the turtle deck. So I took the bow off and made small incremental cuts off the ends of the bow, to get the bow down to the correct offset from the turtle deck. Each time I would go less than 1/4", put the frame back together and check the height. |
