Windscreen - fasteners |

- Polished the wingtip that I finished last night. Spent the rest of the time securing the windscreen after getting my Wicks hardware order today. - I secured the windscreen at the bow, first. In photo #1 you can see a couple of washers that I had to grind down to be flush with the windscreen material. I cut the canopy per the cut that Sonex puts in the windscreen, but between the bow being a bit off on the pilot-side, and a little bit of oops with the band saw, the holes ended up closer to the enge of the windscreen than intended. So I just marked and ground down the edges of 3 washers. The one at the bottom was the worst. The other two were not as dramatic. - Then I secured all the screws I could down both sides of the windscreen and fuselage. With my long arms I could get within 2 holes of the forward part of the windscreen (photo #2). I will need help with the rest. - Photo #3 shows a long piece of scrap aluminum that I cut a notch from, and taped some cardboard to. This way I can reach the screws at the forward end of the windscreen, and have something to hold the nuts in place while tightening the screws. I will need another pair of hands to do all this. |
