MOVE TO AIRPORT! |
|
|
TODAY I MOVED THE AIRPLANE TO THE AIRPORT (Minuteman Airfield, Stow, MA 6B6)!! After 5 years and 1 month in my basement and 2 months in my garage, I finally moved the airplane to the airport. The house seems so empty! I can't afford a hangar in this area, so I'm sharing a large hangar with several other aircraft. That's where I'll be working now. It took 3 hours to move the plane and get the wings on, but I'm not counting those hours as "build time." :-) It all seems a little too real, now. A friend who races cars made two trips with me today (fuselage, then wings) with his car trailer, to get it to the airport. So now I can't just go downstairs in my home to work on the plane (though I do have something to build here at home tonight). I have a bunch of miscellaneous things to do this weekend, like: - Set wings with hardware (just temporary pins in there now) - Install rubber gap seal between wing and fuselage - Install control sticks (that's the thing I'm working on tonight) - Rivet lower (forward) skin - Rig flaps and ailerons - Install pushrod covers - WEIGH the airplane (I have the ramps and scales) I have my DAR lined up for an inspection as soon as I give him the thumbs up. That was going to be this weekend, but I think I will wait another week so I have more time to finish the punch list. But first flight before June is the goal. |
