Re-mark fuel sight gauge |
|
|
I decided to more accurately mark my clear fuel sight gauge. I started with a known 2 gallons in the tank. I had pre-marked my tank for 1, 2 and 3 gallons, with a Sharpie. I can easily see the marks and the fuel if I look under my instrument panel. With the tail down in the "parked" position I put 1 gallon more in the tank, then marked the sight guage with a red Sharpie. That showed me 3 gallons on the tube. Now I raised the tail to the level flight position. In that position the fuel is not visible in the sight tube. With the tail down in the "parked" position I put 1 gallon more in the tank, then marked the sight guage with a red Sharpie. That showed me 4 gallons on the tube. I raised the tail to the level flight position. In that position the fuel is still not visible in the sight tube. With the tail down in the "parked" position I put 1 gallon more in the tank, then marked the sight guage with a red Sharpie. That showed me 5 gallons on the tube. Now I raised the tail to the level flight position. In that position the fuel is finally visible in the tube so I marked it with a BLUE Sharpie (blue for "sky"). I continued this up to the 12 gallon mark. And finally I put in 5 more gallons to prove that the tank can hold 17 gallons in the parked position, and then I noted visually how far up the tank the fuel is when there is 17 gallons. |
