2a. Locate angle F22-06 between the side formers. Since the triangular piece F22-03 has to go between the -06 angle and the longerons, put .032 spacers between the -06 angle and the underside of the longerons before pressing and clamping the angle tight to the formers and the underside of the spacers (photo #1). 2b. Drill and cleco only to the side formers (not in the upper longerons) 2c. Remove the temporary spacers. 3a. Locate angle F23-04 at the bottom of the tailcone, tight againt the back channel and the bottom longerons. I used a couple of spring clamps to hold it in place (photo #2), With the tailcone up in the air on blocks (so I could get the drill underneath), I carefully started drilling up into the -04 angle, being careful not to dislodge it from its clamped location. I actually only started 4 of the 6 holes, then unclamped and removed the angle. With the angle upsidedown on the work bench I finished the 4 holes with the drill. 3b. Put the angle back in the tailcone, clamp with long reach clecos, then drill the remaining 2 holes. Cleco in place temporarily. 3c. Now drill the 4 holes at the vertical leg of the F23-04 angle, using the existing pilot holes in the vertical channel (photo #3). |
