Tailcone; aft channel |
|
|
- Drilled the tight fit holes for the screws at the splice plates at the forward end of the tailcone (photo #1; remember fuselage is upside down). - When installing the aft most channel to the tailcone it was VERY beneficial to have the fuselage upside down. In photo #2 you can see the angle ("V" shape) that is on the back side of the channel, set down tight against the upper longerons. Having the fuselage upside down allowed gravity to ensure the angle was set tight against the longerons. - I aligned the outside edges of the channel with the outside edges of the side skins, then used masking tape and clamps to hold it in place. - Pilot drilled and cleco'd the channel in place. I'm waiting for the F23-01 Tail Spring Mount to show up from Sonex, and then I can continue on this end of the tailcone. I'm waiting on Wicks to get my phenolic so I can finish the fairleads. |
