Landing light lens install |
|
|
Began the installation of the lens for the Duckworks landing light. What I like about the Duckworks is all the parts and pieces that are included, and the high qualilty. What I don't like about the kit is the instruction sheet is horrible. The pictures look like the mimeograph photos we got 30 years agon in school. Duckworks investing in a $70 printer would do wonders for the installation instructions. And there is a terrible lack of photos, as well. Again, something for which there is no excuse in this digital age. ============ You may notice the blue tape in the photos below. Although I would like to blame it on the instruction sheet, it was mainly just me screwing up! After 530 hours of building the wings, with no mistakes showing on the outside, I went and drilled 3 holes in the WRONG location for the lens bracket! Doh! Now that just sucks. So I put painter's tape over the holes and mixed up some JB Weld. I applied it to fill the holes from inside the wing. My hope is that after removing the tape the JB Weld, being light gray in color, will fill the 3 holes and blend in. If needed, later I can add some light gray paint that will blend with the polished wing color (the next day I took photo #3, seen here). |
