STUFF - Has arrived!! I've always wanted to get my pilots license but didn't want to do so with out some sort of end-game. After reading about these kits, it seemed like the ideal way to keep busy with the activity. There are a lot of people doing it and plenty of online support. On Friday (7/21) I pulled the trigger and ordered the fuse and wings (quick builds). They should get here something in October. At this point, I have not decided on the engine or avionics. One strategy I am considering is to buy a completed kit to build my hours. Then, use the engine, avionics, etc. to finish N444MG. This way, I will be flying with a 'known' engine and avionics. There are a number of completed, flying kits on barnstormers for 20-30K. In the engine crosshairs, are the Rotax, Jabira and AeroVee kit. The latter being much less expensive but more complicated to the build (hey Ritchie!?!). |
