Left Wing - Aileron Gap Seal |
|
|
Tonight I dimpled the left aileron gap seal and its skin edge rivet line, and final riveted the gap seal to the wing. I used tank dies on the gap seal, and standard dies on the skin for good nesting of the dimples. The gap seal is thin enough, and the rivet spacing is wide enough that even with a cleco in every other hole, the intermediate holes still stood a bit proud of the skin. To remedy this, I put a cleco clamp between every hole before I squeezed the skin rivets. I shot and bucked the rivets through the spar, and got a bit of pillowing, but I really don't know what could have been done to prevent it. This doesn't appear to be a very structural part (I think it would be thicker otherwise) and won't be very visible after the ailerons are installed anyway. Rivets Today: 55 Rivets Total: 5162 |
