Brief Description:    Rudder Assembly - Part 1
Started the day by dimpling all rudder stiffeners, and while I was at it, all the elevator stiffeners. Next, I backriveted the rudder stiffeners to the skins. I've never had good results with the backrivet plate on the workbench, so I did what works for me and set up in the floor. I have a 1/4" sheet of plywood with a cutout for the backrivet plate, and overlaid with indoor/outdoor carpet.

Next I countersunk the AEX rudder trailing edge wedge. I drilled and clecoed the wedge to a 1/8" thick galvanized steel angle. This angle appears to be bent by a brake which makes it much straighter than the cheaper choice, hot rolled steel angle, which had about one inch of bow over its 6-foot length. Counter sinking went well, with only very minor hole enlargement, as expected. I checked the countersinks with a dimpled 0.016 coupon, which sits flush with no lateral play.
