Right Horizontal Stab Ribs and Skin |
|
|
Assembled and final drilled ribs to front and rear spars on right half of horizontal stabilizer. Installed right HS skin onto skeleton. Straightened (fluted) and match drilled inboard ribs (HS-404R and 405R) ribs. Match/final drilled all rib and spar holes in right HS skin. Upon disassembly I found an edge distance issue on both HS-404 inboard nose ribs. The bottom hole on both ribs was approximately 3/16" (1/16" too close) from the bottom edge of the rear flange on both ribs. The distance between the two hole in the flange was 7/8" on both ribs, so I added a third hole exactly halfway between the original two. After dissassembly, I stripped the vinyl from the rivet hole lines on both HS skin and the VS skin. In preparation for assembly, I also stripped the vinyl completely from the interior of both HS skins. I seem to have misplaced the speed handle I like to use on big deburring jobs, so I'm putting that off until I can get a replacement. I the meantime I will jump ahead a bit and start on drilling the vertical stabilizer. Rivets this session: 0 Rivets total: 6 |
