Longerons - Canopy Decks |
|
|
Today (after a visit to the ophthalmologist...) I drilled the canopy decks to the longerons. Per the instructions, I taped 0.032 stock to the vertical flange of each longeron to simulate the side skins for precise location of the decks (photo 1). The longeron bending I did the other day fit the deck within about 1/16 inch, making it very easy to tweak the longeron to precisely fit the decks (photo 2). As far as I can tell, the next step is to join the aft and center fuselage sections. I don't have a third sawhorse, so I'm thinking of using the wing skins box (photo 3) to support the two sections. Despite its rounded bottom the aft fuselage is quite stable in its current location, so I'm thinking the center section should be even more so. In addition, the box will provide a more convenient working height than the sawhorses, even in their lowest position. We'll see... |
