Alodining VS skeleton components |
|
|
Spent the day setting up to Alodine the VS components. I have made up two 5gal pails of chemicals - one contains a 3:1 water:Aluprep 33 solution, and the other contains a 2:1 water: Alodine solution. For processing long pieces I have made two troughs out of PVC eave-trough and plumbing parts. These are 10ft. long, and have a ball valve so that I can drain chemicals back into thier pails. For shorter items I bought a pair of wall-paper paste troughs 22in. long x 5in wide. I didn't use the long troughs today, since I consentrated on the shorter pieces first. The wall-paper paste toughs worked fine, but proved to be too flexible ... I ended up spilling some chemicals when trying to pour them back into thier pails. This is not satisfactory. I will need to find a better solution. As for the Alodine process itself - this went well. The finish looks very good. I'm quite happy with it. |
