Today I mainly worked on getting the steps ready for installation. When I first fitted the F-623 ribs, I followed the plans when they told me to cut the notch for the step...unfortunately, they should have said "wait until you get the F-770 skin in place prior to trimming..." So, I ended up having to move the notch over a bit on one side and slightly elongate the cutout on the other. Not a big deal, but when I was reinstalling the right side to check for fit, I bent the rib and it cracked at the low point. After stop drilling the crack, I added a small reinforcement plate to the area and moved on. Lesson learned. I also drilled the F-720 armrests and did some general fit checking and assessed my next couple of steps. The next session will involve bending the F-770 skin to fit on the aft end, and then I will fit and drill the longerons. Making pretty good progress! |
