Adjusted right rear latching block |

I haven't posted much lately...have to admit the motivation to sit down and write has faded a bit since airworthiness and first flight, but I do intend to bring the epic to a logical conclusion once I feel the project is "finished". Today I started off by removing the right rear canopy latching block and opening up the hole a bit. When I remade it a week ago, the canopy wouldn't close enough to latch, so after some careful drilling and filing, I reinstalled it and it closed ok...not great, but functional. That will be an area of continued work in the future. Two side notes--I found out that even 30 minutes sitting in the sun will totally change the fit of the canopy. I had it working really well in the hangar, but after filling up with avgas and sitting for a couple of minutes to add some calibration points to the fuel capacity system, I couldn't get it closed. I ended up sort of "persuading" it and got it closed. Needs more work... |
