Blizzard of 2009 |

I haven't done much work in a couple of weeks because of the below normal temperatures for this time of year. Now, because of a blizzard that blew through on Christmas Eve, I can't even get into my hangar. It took two days for me to brave the road conditions just to come check on the hangar. Once there, Tyler and I found that the doors were frozen shut. No amount of salt or shoveling was going to get them open. I was able to take a few photos between the cracks in the doors, which confirmed my concerns... the driving wind during the blizzard blew snow all over everything within 10 feet of the doors. While I was disappointed and concerned for my tools and materials, there was nothing I could do except go home and try another day. Caption 1 shows snow all over my power tool bench, heater, band saw and several other things that I had covered before the 50 mph winds blew in. Caption 2 is a shot of the materials side of the hangar. That pile of snow over by the trash can is on top of my stock wood. Fortunately I covered all my wood with double ply cardboard and it didn't blow away. Check out that snowdrift inside the door. Caption 3 shows that everything past 10 feet or so stayed dry. |
